Since the beginning of time there have been four significant developments that have directly affected our communication (exchange of ideas), greatly influenced our social climate and literally changed our lives forever:

1. Development of Spoken Language, which began the first community.
2. Development of Written Language, which began collective knowledge accumulation.
3. Development of the Printing Press, which began mass knowledge dissemination.
4. Development of the Internet, which has now begun the "World-Wide" community.

As a publisher and writer, I have a healthy appreciation, command, indebtedness and respect for each development, especially the latter and most current.  The Internet is probably the single-most important invention of all time to both business-to-consumer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) commerce transaction.  The Internet affords quicker communication than conventional mail, allows same ease of effort to reach someone abroad as within the same city, combines all forms of both mass and personal communications media and provides commerce exchange for 24 hours everyday.
