LAF PRODUCTIONS, INC. FOCUSES ON HEALTHY LIVING...MIND, BODY & SOUL
Royalty
Shauna Reinhold, Director of Public Relations
You are royalty.Did you know that?Did you know that you are God’s own son or daughter?Think about that for a minute.Let it sink into your heart. If you are saved, and have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior then you are co-heirs with Jesus to all the blessings and provision that God has for you.
So, how should Royalty act?
Well, if we are to model Jesus' actions when he was here, while he knew who he was, and why he was sent, he didn't act too high and mighty to eat dinner with thieves, tax collectors and peasants. He made a point to stop along the way in all of his journeys and help whomever was in his path that needed him. He blessed, healed, taught and encouraged everywhere he went. As if that wasn't enough, he kept himself pure - uncontaminated. This last one...is a hard one.
According to the Bible perfect religion in God’s eyes is to care for the widows and orphans in their distress and to keep oneself unstained or unspotted from the world. To keep oneself pure.To me that means not contaminating our bodies, minds or spirits with anything that doesn’t line up with God’s Word, and to not let anything in that would be contradictory to his perfect will and plan for our lives. So what are some things that try to steal kill and destroy? What are things that would try to contaminate us?What keeps us from being Royalty?Well, to me it’s the very things Christians are judged for by unbelievers. You’ve surely heard these reasons before from people explaining why they don’t go to church anymore, because they don’t want to be around a bunch of hypocrites (as if there is a human alive who hasn’t been one before). But before I go on let me just say that I have NEVER been perfect, never claimed to be, and do not myself claim to have never done any of the below. However, these are things I believe all Christians struggle with, including me, so here goes:
Smoking, drinking, partying, and/or hanging out in bars and night clubs. Now while Jesus did drink wine as many Jews did, he didn’t get drunk, or drink Vodka or Beer, or go hang out at night clubs or bordellos. No, he simple drank it as a normal beverage or at special occasions (at least what we have record of) or at the last supper to represent his blood in the form of red wine. While he might have been sent to minister to someone in a bar if God so desired in modern times like today, he likely wouldn’t be acting just like the people there, no, he would most certainly stand out, and be there for a purpose, not to join in, but to pull out. To pull out someone from the crowd to minister to, get them out of that situation, or lead by example.Ask yourself this:Do you see many pastors or ministers hanging out around bars? What would you think if you did?Just food for thought.
Contaminating the body – anything you drink/smoke/ingest/do to yourself that causes your body to not be the pure temple of the Holy Spirit God means for it to be.Keeping oneself from being unspotted from the world makes me think of this one the most. It’s easy to see how smoking pollutes the lungs, and would blacken your insides causing you to not be pure anymore. It’s easy to see how drinking would damage your liver over time and cause your body to not be pure. But what about over exercising? The Bible says that physical fitness is good for a little but the building of one’s Spirit counts for a whole lot more.So if you are like me, and have been bombarded by the media and their version of what you should look like in unattainable models, actors, and celebrities, then you’re likely frustrated, like I have been. There is a fine line between taking care of yourself by working out, and damaging your bones, joints and muscles by working out too hard for too long too frequently. What helps me is to always ask myself – What’s my motivation? For everything.Ask yourself what are your motives. Are you doing this to look like him or her?To fit into a size zero?To look like a body builder or runway model? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you are being influenced by what the World says you should be not what God says you should be.Pray, like I do, for God to show you how he sees you through his eyes.
Polluting the mind – included in this is anything that goes into your eyes or ears.Pornography of all kinds is rapidly-growing addictive destroyers of marriages and families and is growing by epic proportions, even in the church. No one is immune from sin, no one can judge, because where I may have victory in one area, surely something else has been a struggle, and every Christian has a battle to fight. But the good news is God has already placed victory, strength, wisdom and all of the gifts of the Holy Spirit on the inside of us.We are stronger than we think. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is alive and well in us and we can do all Jesus did and MORE if we only believe and trust in God and put our faith into action.Ask God for more grace to help you do with ease what you cannot do in your own striving. And realize that God not only forgives, he FORGETS all of your sin if you only ask. (Hebrews 10:17)
Watering down the Spirit – words, thoughts and actions can do this to us so easily. The Word says that as a man thinks in his heart so is he.This tells me that whatever I tell myself every day, whatever I believe about myself deep down that is what I will become.Your thoughts and words have power.Life and death are in the power of the tongue and with your tongue you can bless or curse, build up or tear down. This doesn’t mean just others; you can tear down yourself too.And to build on point #1 God once spoke to me that drinking waters down the Spirit.Think about it, would you prefer to go to church drunk or sober?Easy answer right?Well, maybe not for an alcoholic, but you get my point. You can’t be powerful while drinking. You become too distracted by the buzz or having fun to minister to anyone. And as Joyce Meyer says, “You can be pitiful or powerful, but you can’t be both”.And finally, negative words spoken over you or that you speak over yourself do nothing but water down your spirit.Begin speaking positive words out loud about yourself even if you feel stupid or weird doing it at first, and even if you don’t believe it all yet.Call those things that are not YET as though they already were.Below are a list of confessions I tell myself that are a variation of Joyce Meyer’s that I found online, and are all scriptural and from the Bible. After a while you can say them in your car on the way to work and it will be second nature to you, you won’t even have to read them. And trust me, they make you feel powerful.I hope they bless you like they do me:
This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it.
No weapon formed against me shall prosper because greater is he who is in me than he who is in the world and I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
I am blessed coming in and blessed going out, and I am more than a conqueror.
I am a new creation in Christ, old things have passed away and behold all things are new.
Thank you God for ordering and numbering my steps and going before me, orchestrating events in my favor.I have favor with everyone I come in contact with today.
Thank you for your angels always watching out for me keeping me safe and protected from any harm, accidents or injuries of any kind in Jesus’ name.
Thank you that your grace and mercy are new every morning and thank you that your grace helps me do with ease what I cannot do in my own striving.
Thank you for your protection over every member of my family and your angels keeping them safe at all times. No tragedies will befall our households.
From the top of my head to the soles of my feel I have no sicknesses, illnesses, diseases, cancers, growths, tumors, abnormal cells, pain of any kind or anything named or unnamed because my body functions with 100% efficiency.By Jesus’ stripes I am healed.
Thank you that you have forgiven and forgotten every sin I’ve ever committed and love me just the way I am, unconditionally.
Thank you that today is going to be a good day, something good is going to happen today, I’m expecting good news today, and I’m expecting a good report today in Jesus’ name, Amen!
